NEW DELHI: (PTI) Prices of sugar millgate rose by up to Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital on Tuesday in view of the demand ahead of the festive season.
Stockist and bulk consumers were enlarging their stocks due to ongoing festive demand while millers were asking for higher prices for their products because of low ready stocks position, keeping the prices in keen demand, said sugar trader Sushil Kumar of Rambabu Ramkishan.
In the mill gate section, fancy sugar mawana rose by Rs.60 to settle at Rs.1900 a quintal on heavy offtake.
Khatauli too improved further by Rs.90 to Rs.1940 a quintal.
Baghpat, Amroha and Chandpur gained by Rs.100 each at Rs.1865, Rs.1860 and Rs.1845 a quintal respectively.
