Import of Vegetable Oils in Aug. ’15 – 13.74 lakh tons
Nov.’14 – Aug.’15 – Up by 23%
New Delhi. Import of vegetable oils during August 2015 is reported at 1,374,049 tons compared to 1,333,480 tons in August 2014, consisting of 1,364,572 tons of edible oils and 9,477 tons of non-edible oils i.e. up by 3%. The overall import of vegetable oils during Nov.’14 to Aug. ’15 is reported at 11,725,065 tons compared to 9,525,374 tons i.e. up by 23%. dia is being used as a dumping ground for excessive supply of edible oils in the world market.

oilseeds growing farmers are in distress and losi
ng interest in oilseed crop. Country’s dependence on
imported oil has further increased to nearly 70%, an alarming situation for the country’s food security.
Import of Soybean Oil in August ’15 has set a new records:-
Import of Soybean Oil in August ’15 is reported at 4.06 lakh tons which is highest after reporting of 3.49
lakh tons in earlier month of July ’15 and 3.10 lakh tons in August 2001.
Stock Position at Port and in Pipelines :-

Sept., 2015 at various ports is estimated at 925,000 tons (CPO
435,000 tons, RBD Palmolein 95,000 tons, Degummed Soybean Oil 240,000 tons, Crude Sunflower Oil
110,000 tons and 45,000 tons of Rapeseed (Canola) Oil and about 1,400,000 tons in pipelines. Total
stock at ports and in pipelines decreased to 2,325,000 tons from 2,420,000 tons. India’s monthly
requirement is about 16.0 lakh tons against which currently holding stock over 23.25 lakh tons equal to
44 days requirements.
