All-India price trends in the week ending 27.8.08
Over the week, prices of wheat remained steady at all reporting centers.
Prices of sugar remained steady at all the reporting centers except for an increase at Delhi, Bhopal, Agartala and Patna and decrease at Bangalore.
Prices of gram dal remained steady at all the reporting centers except for an increase at Patna and decrease at Bhubaneshwar and Bangalore.
Prices of tur dal remained steady at all the reporting centers except for an increase at Bhopal and decrease at Bangalore.
Retail Prices of food commodities at Delhi
Prices of the following commodities remained steady during the week: tur dal, vanaspati, tea, potato and onion. Prices remained stable for a month for rice. Prices of wheat, atta, gram dal, groundnut oil, milk and have remained steady during the last six months.
Prices of sugar and salt increased during the week.
Price of mustard oil decreased during the week.
Status of import of pulses
Out of 1.4 million tonne pulses contracted for import last year (2007-08) 1.17 MT has been disposed of. In this year (2008-09), 542 thousand tonne pulses have been contracted for import so far. Out of it, 147 thousand tonne has arrived and is in the process of being disposed of.
