Additional 9 lakh MT wheat procured in MP this year

Bhopal, May 4. An additional nine lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured this year in Madhya Pradesh as compared to last year. Procurement will continue till May 18 in Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Ujjain and Indore divisions and till May 25 in Sagar, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar and Rewa divisions. So far, 51,70,000 MT wheat has been procured in the state and of the procured wheat, 47,49,000 MT has been safely stored, which amounts to 92.32 percent. Till date last year, 42,70,000 MT tonnes of wheat was procured. Wheat has been procured from 6,90,092 farmers by procurement centres in districts and they have been paid Rs. 7,762 crore against wheat procurement. The number of registered farmers in the state is 14,33,000. Farmers are being given Rs 1350 per quintal support price plus Rs 150 per quintal as bonus, an official release said here today.
