Global Ending Stock of Rice Decline Sharply in 2016-17

New Delhi. The IGC forecasts global rice ending stocks at around 93 million tons in 2016/17, down about 4% from an estimated 97 million tons in 2015/16 due to higher food use in most of the countries. The IGC expects global rice stocks in 2015/16 to decline sharply from around 109 million tons in 2014/15 due to a smaller outturn and rising consumption, mostly on reductions in the main exporters, namely India and Thailand.
