FCI to set up silos with 3-LT storage capacity in Haryana

Chandigarh, Apr 12. Food Corporation of India (FCI) today said silos with a capacity of three lakh tonnes (LT) would be set up for foodgrain storage in Haryana. "Storage silos each of 50,000 tonnes capacity will be set up in Rohtak, Jind, Sonipat, Karnal, Sirsa and Kurukshetra which will prevent grain damage," FCI Executive Director (North) Sudhir Garg said in a release. He said Adani Group is already using godown of 2 LT capacity for storage here. Earlier, large quantity wheat used to get damaged because of want of storage facility which also resulted in declining its quality, he said, adding that storages had been made using latest technology to overcome this problem.
